From New York to New Mexico, with various places around Asia and Latin America in between
I'm a therapist based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I pride myself on bringing range and depth into the counseling room. I was born and raised in the New York City area, have lived abroad in Asia and Latin America, and am now proud to call New Mexico home.
I like to view and engage with all the people I work with from where they are and what their life experience and situation call for. I don't force problems or situations into any specific therapeutic model. I start where you are. Then I use all the tools and experience I have nurtured over the years to help empower you to navigate your journey.
Change asks a lot. Insight is one thing. Follow-through is another. And wanting to be different is a long way from doing the daily work of getting there. I will be honest with you about that, even when it's hard to hear.
I have worked with substance use, trauma, anxiety and depression in many different settings. I have also done psychosocial evaluations for immigration cases. (I offer that work through a separate practice.)
Very little of what people bring surprises me. That is why I can stay steady with hard material, without brushing it aside and without being thrown by it.
I speak English and Spanish, and conversational Mandarin. I'm curious about people who see the world differently than I do. I keep learning from them.
I value authenticity, continuous learning, and open dialogue with people who see the world differently than I do. Honesty is the foundation of it all. I am direct without being harsh, and I respect my clients enough to tell them the truth.
